Main Character-Discuss what he/she is trying to achieve and how and why he/she is succeeding or failing. Katt Woodring 1st period. Amos is the main character in our story. Amos, is a former At- Munshi tribe king who was captured to become a slave. At the auction Mr. Copeland bought Amos, but not as a slave. Amos does not talk for quite awhile, while he's entered the new country. At the Copeland's home Amos learns to read ad write, sit on a chair, sleep on a bed and not a mat, use a knife and fork instead of his fingers, and to wear trousers and a shirt. He is not talking yet though, until Roxanna teaches him personally talking to him slowly when he finally starts speaking. Amos goes to school and does not do hard labor like an average slave. To most slaves this would be a blessing.
Dakota Neff Pd. 5th- In Africa, Amos is considered a king. But when he is put up for auction, he is only called a boy. I would like to know how old this boy is. I was pretty sure it didn't say his age in the book.
Dakota Neff Pd. 5th- The main character is still Amos. But now he has a family to be looking after. He had bought his wife Violet and her daughter. He has taken them to a new place where they will start a new life with each other. Building their own house, buying their own piece of land. Very Cool. Katt Woodring Period 1. Agreed. Amos was I believe a great husband to Violet and a wonderful father. Both, Amos and his family are lucky. They all started out happy, then unlucky, but in the end up being happy again. I believe 5 words to describe Amos would be; Strong (physically and mentally) smart, hopeful, grateful, and lucky. Dakota Neff Pd.5th- I believe that five words that describe Amos are Hardworking, Strong, Kind(bought slaves so they could die free), Changed( From Africa until he died) and Never Giving up
